RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Scherza - 08-03-2018 She thought of the idea of the name of the spider and blinked, tilting her head. Well, that was one she'd never heard of for good reason! Clearly, it lived in the mountains and not the forest. Luckily, she supposed, the mountains might be more interesting, but still, she wasn't sure what would need to be done. "So we need to ah . . . kill them? Well, I have some magic, if it would help. Maybe also a song even could lull them into some sort of sleep, even, which would make it easier I guess?" She offered up tentatively, not at all sure about this idea, but well, she was here now. The now less-puffy feline at her feet looked around unblinking at the crowd, as if silently judging their abilities to go on this quest. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Trabant180 - 08-09-2018 Dr. Hannigan smiled at Jacob with a twinkle in her eye. "Ah I sense a kindred spirit! Yes, the main the goal of this hunt is research, however it will definitely be dangerous." A look of concern briefly shadowed her eyes before returning to their previous excited state. "The pheromones of this particular arachnid are known to interact in violent and fantastic ways with magic. This means that we will need to be extremely careful with how and when we use magic against them." The last bit was said with a meaningful look at Scherza. "But yes from the little we know of them they are highly aggressive so it would be insanely difficult to remove the pheromone sacks while they are still alive. But if you can find a way to perform veterinary surgery on angry magic spiders I'm definitely interested in seeing it in action!" It was clear that the thought genuinely excited her. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Jacob Aranthime - 08-14-2018 Jacob smiled at the confirmation of a research as the intent but furrowed his brow at the nature of the pheromones. "Magic is kind of my 'go to' move... this should be interesting." he said. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Scherza - 08-18-2018 The elf frowned just a bit more when she was given the meaningful look in regards to magic. Hearing another, however, mention that magic was their go-to move as well made her realize that she wasn't necessarily alone then. "I suppose I have this rapier, but I don't really use it much. Maybe I can help to try and detect them, I do have a magic that does that, makes sounds easier to hear, it only affects me not the creatures though." She offered up, tentatively, looking around, hoping that it was something that could be useful still. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Trabant180 - 10-30-2018 Not sure if anyone is interested in doing this still The woman appeared to deflate slightly that no-one was perusing the surgical route but it seemed to be fleeting as her eyes lit up again when Scherza mentioned the detection magic. "We aren't sure exactly how the pheromones interact with magic that isn't affecting the spiders themselves. I would theorize that they could still have some affect on the spell based on proximity but that would be completely conjecture as it's possible they only react defensively. BUT!" She hopped gingerly onto a stump with a flourish. "I think we can certainly be on our way soon enough!" She and Herald began dismantling the camp. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Scherza - 10-30-2018 ooc: definitely! Just wasn't going to reply to myself ... xD The elf woman nodded to the other woman whom appeared to have the knowledge of what exactly was going on. She was not necessarily emboldened to go on this quest, it was still a bit dubious in her mind, but it seemed like there was a large enough group that perhaps anything that she did not know, another could aid with easily enough. That, and honestly, she was rather tired of doing really nothing so a quest might be in order to fix that! The long furred feline 'mrred' up at the surrounding being as if wondering should they be moving or talking or something as well. Suddenly everyone had gotten so quiet. "I'm ready, for better or worse! One cannot know what adventure is until one embarks upon it!" RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Annabeth - 11-01-2018 "If anyone needs a thing to do stabbing with, I can help with that. Just let me know the method you prefer to make the insides get outside" She stood and readied with the others to head out . RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Oolla - 11-01-2018 As the expedition leaders were busying themselves with the tearing down of tents and such, the small Dryad set the crystal down down carefully and gave one last longing look before standing and readying herself to leave. RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Trabant180 - 11-01-2018 The tents and other equipment must have been enchanted somehow because despite not noticing how it was accomplished they seemed to have disappeared and the only trace of it was Harold standing by with a large rucksack. Dr. Hannigan was already walking towards the edge of the forest beckoning the others to follow her with an excited smile. "Let's be off then! No time like the present!" They moved out of the camp and into the forest, Dr. Hannigan was pulling Oolla along excitedly badgering her about which direction to go which turned out to be northwest. The first few hours passed without incident although they did move at a pace that may have been taxing on anyone not used to travelling through the thick wooded terrain. The sun was just past its pinnacle when Harold suggested they stop for lunch soon. The group came upon a small clearing with what looked like the mouth of an underground cave towards the far end. Dr. Hannigan began rummaging through Harold's ruck sack and produced a basket filled with magically preserved sandwiches and flasks of chilled water. "Well then this seems like a good a spot, although I must admit ominous caves often turn out to contain dangerous creatures! Should we stop here?" RE: Dr. Hannigan's Grand Hunting Expedition - Jacob Aranthime - 11-06-2018 "I mean, I wouldn't recommend we start a fire or cook anything in front of a cave mouth...but as long as we don't all face away from it and ignore any noises, we should be alright?" Jacob offered, obviously a little winded from the walk as he leaned on his staff. He pulled a pair of silver-lensed glasses from his coat and slipped them on, peering in to the cave in search of traces of magical energy. |
