Skaylen mixed the blood with a few powders and what looked like a silvery liquid before adding a drop of the oil, which Ria suspected was not how the rune was normally formed. The tinkerer laid of a large sheet of metal and poured the mixture over the surface, scratching a series of symbols and lines in the wet material with a gem-tipped wand. The metal let out a flash of light before appearing completely dry.
"Now the fun part." Skaylen said, his hair and eyes beginning to glow a little as he took a portion of oil from the cask. It floated through the air as if moved only by the man's will, spreading out until it formed a mist that clung around the metal. Soon the sheet of runed metal had melted away into a serious of floating droplets... each of the droplets stretched out into the shape of a compass needle before falling onto the counter as solid iron with a clatter of clangs. Nineteen compass needles.
