Trip to Slant Rock Isle [Past]
Castor looked again to the woman with the peg leg. He actually felt an inkling of sympathy. More overpowering though was his desire to leave. Better to die later.

With a running start he leapt off the boat landing on thin air a few times before making it to the closest rock. With a few more inhuman leaps assisted by another casting of foothold, he was next to Kathy. ”Let’s go.” He said with more coldness than was natural, extending a hand to help her up. Now that he was closer he could see how much pain she was in. He would help her to the ship if he could.

Wally's had been about to say something (or throw something) when he noticed Castor bounding along. Primal magic! That must've been why his axe felt a lil'heavier for a bit there. He'd been wondering about that. He was about to say something else when he noticed the new opponent was helping Kathy.

He grunts. "We don't sit next to the cat or the fire lady on the boat. I'll give my weapons to the new guy." He motions his head towards Castor.

Scyto dares to give a half-sigh of relief as he waits for the cat and fire lady to respond.

Kathy took Castor's hand, thanking him as she struggled to pull herself up and over the rocks. She also glanced towards the fire lady and the cat, however, some doubt lingering on her features.

Well, that settled that. Kage paid attention to his shared eye again, since he wasn't about to be in combat, and stood up from his crouch. Kaia, watch them at all times on the ship. Let's enjoy not being stabbed as we sleep. He closed the distance back to the ship in the safest way he could*. He was ready to leave them island for a while.

*Kinda lost everyone's positioning. So if its rope, foothold jumps, or water to get safely, he does that.

Darby was still on the boat. He was amenable to getting the pirates to surrender because he currently has 0 BP, so whatever he does in this adventure, it can't include BP.

"Look, if you're all amenable to living, then don't rock the hand that feeds!"

Even when the metaphor is handed to him, Darby found a way to mess it up.

Lilith made her way onto the ship, positioning herself near the prow. This would hopefully be far enough from the pirates to keep them calm.

"How are things looking with the dragon, kitten?" she asked as she moved about.

Castor looked up when the man with the axe spoke. He was prepared to leave that one behind. But it seemed his act had made an impression. He nodded at the man.

Watching Kathy struggle increased his anxiety. He didn’t really care what anyone thought at this point. They just needed to leave.

Without a word he scooped Kathy up in his arms and followed a similar path back to the boat.

Kathy started to ask what Castor was doing, but calmed down after she realized he was just carrying her to the ship. She covers her mouth, hiding most of the blush.

The other pirates follow suit, taking pains to never have their backs turned to Kage & Lilith. They likewise made sure to sit on the other side of of the ship from the duo.

Soon afterwards, the group as set back off for the mainland. Dalton looked at the pirates. "Well. This wasn't how I expected this to go. First things first, tell me everything you know about the dragon. I'm not hunting it today, but we can't leave that thing so close to a town."

Scyto began. "It started when the beast stabbed it's way through the ship's hull, got us sinking. We didn't know what was going on until the lifeboats got stuck in sudden iceflow. Every half minute or so the beast's tail would lash out, impale a member of the crew like a piece of meat, and pull them into the waves. Sometimes it'd pull a lifeboat into the water instead, or shake an ice block to unbalance a someone hoping to get a blow in. It's devilishly smart, that beast. Killed the water magic users first."

"Hrm.." Dalton began asking extremely specific questions about the beast's claw size, way of moving its eyes, any nesting behavior, etc. Scyto hadn't seen much of the dragon - why he was still alive, he felt - but what he had seen did not paint a pretty picture. The island was riddled with underground passageways and smaller lakes, and most of them were now part of one big drasil nest. It was practically dragon paradise.

Kage hadn't seen anything from his shaded eye as of yet. Perhaps the dragon had been more delayed than the pirates thought.

While Dalton was preoccupied with learning anything and everything about the dragon, the other group members may have recalled that their mission was to obtain proof that the pirates had landed on the island.

"So, we can say for certain that pirates landed on that island. Though perhaps 'landed' is being a bit generous." Lilly said from close enough to eavesdrop.

"The drasil nest is probably more of a pressing issue to let people know about than these guys, though, right?" she added.

The group segregated rather quickly as soon as the ship started moving. True to their word, all of the weapons were placed in Castor’s care and he stood between the weapons and the Pirates. That being the case, he was on the side of the ship closer to the Pirates although he could hear his party’s conversation.

They needed evidence of Pirates? They had three live ones on board. But for how long could they control these three? Perhaps turning them in wasn’t the best idea. He looked more closely at the pile of weapons. They would be wanting those back. But perhaps he could sneak away with something that proved its ownership.

At the same time, to distract from the conversation on the other side of the ship, he turned to the Pirates. ”How long were you on that island?” He asked with a casually grave tone. He looked at each one in turn but landed on Kathy last and kept his gaze there.

He kept his voice low so as to not speak over Dalton. "No sightings yet of the creature on the island. Though from the descriptions, it might not wander the surface much. No matter, I'll keep watching from that cliff area in case and I'll let you know. As for the job, I think we should let it wait until we get back, best not to disturb the captain while on open waters. While the nest is a problem, we are not outfitted to deal with that."
