The Hullabaloo at Maroo [Past]

"If we're going to lure them in... how long before they wake up and decide to come out looking?" asked Randall, cracking his knuckles idly.

"An hour... maybe two. They'll need a little time to organise... if you go that way you should expect fireballs from literally anybody." their prisoner told them.

"Unless someone has ideas for more complex traps... I wish we had oil... I fear we might be underestimating them a bit too much. Fighting thrice our number in fireball-flinging bandits in a mostly open area seems a little excessive even for us." Arl climbs one of the rocks and glances around to check for any interesting natural strongholds/pits/chokepoints that may or may not lay in the distance. "Finding somewhere to cut their numbers outside of the town would be best, but otherwise we should probably just enter the town, catch them off-guard, and take out as many as we can before they get organized. It'd be bloody, but Riesig could at least handle any fires that get started." She turned towards the prisoner "Do any of them have mounts? Or are they all on foot? If they do have mounts, how tame are they?"

Checking the terrain, the best Arl could manage for a choke point was the rocky area where the river slipped back beneath the ground. The trees were more spread out in that area, but there were a couple of large juts of rock that meant they were unlikely to be flanked from the right.

"Not unless they've run down the ones that fled during the attack... which, probably not." said Skarl.

"How easy is it to get the alcohol they have? If we could get it, I can make it into some very effective bombs. Other than that, all I can add is if you carry some wood and block with that it will take away their fireballs. I doubt they can throw more than a few if they don't know it themselves." Riesig said with a shrug.

The beginnings of a relieved smile began to tug at the edge of Drevin's lips. Maybe we won't have to secure an inordinate amount of prisoners after all. "I like where you head's at but even if it's lightly guarded I'll be the first to admit I'm less than stealthy. Any sneaking up we do would have to be heavily in our favor for us all to avoid detection." He scowled at the "prisoner" and jerked a nod at him. "You know of any ways to the bomb juice that sound like that?"

"As far as I know... three barrels of ale on the far end of the courtyard... you could probably sneak round the hall and get close enough." the reply came easily enough.

Riesig spread his mist out in a scaled down 3d map of the town. Then he turned to the group. "So this is what we have. We are here. They are in roughly these locations. And we have the makings of some explosions over here. How do we want to do this? Because lying in wait is unlikely to be in our favor. The actual fire mages back here should be dealt with first. Because if they have anything better than a fireball, I would like to not be caught surprised by it." Despite not being good at figuring out plans, he was fairly good at following them. They had intel on positions. They had all their possible entries. Now they just needed to pick a set of orders, and follow them.

Drevin was starting to warm up to the idea of blowing up the ale. The amnesiac leaned over the makeshift map thoughtfully. We may be able to make this two fold. "Well if we actually can get those barrels and set them up and blow them before we're noticed and that's a lot of ifs then we could blow up the back of the hall and maybe half of us storms the front in the chaos as the bomb team hits em through the hole."

"I'd rather not blow a hole in the building... but setting off the booze is probably the best diversion we're going to get... especially if we can get it to spread across the town square." Randall said, pulling at the mist barrels and dragging towards the empty space between the two buildings.

"Most them will probably be in the town hall, so our best bet maybe to have two of us go in there once the distraction is up and going. Worry about the dye house afterwards." he added.
