[Past, Private/Sven] Tugging at the heartstrings.

Jebidiah had been nearby when the fighting started. He wasn't sure what the fighting was from, or even who was fighting. All he did know was that there was likely going to be people who needed help. He let out a sigh at the waste of resources that fighting usually created and proceeded towards the dock with his golem in tow. It wasn't so much that he was against violence, he in fact knew that it was sometimes the only long term answer, but instead it was that more often than not the violence was the first answer others jumped to.

When he made his way to the docks, the scene before him was fraught with wasted life. He put aside his disgust at that and looked for those whom he could still help.

It was another pirate attack. They had snuck in on a stolen merchant ship. A dozen or so pirates stormed out of the ship and flooded the dock with the sounds of clashing steel. Sven and few other guards had been on patrol in the area when the battle began.

As the fighting ended, the pirates, along with a few guards, laid dead either dead or injured. Sven had seen his fair share of fighting, but seeing your comrades laying bloodied on the ground never got easier. Out the corner of his eye, Sven spotted a tall, blonde-haired, middle-aged man examining the recently fallen bodies. At his side was some sort of child-sized humanoid. Sven calmed himself to speak.

"You there, please back away from the bodies. The Tiburon guard will be here soon to short everything out."

Jebidiah waved off the man before him as his eyes continued scanning the area. "I'm not here to scavenge young one, merely to tend to the wounded." As he looked around, his eyes fell on a small form off to the side and behind the guard before him and obscured by some crates. He watched it for a moment and saw a faint rise of the chest, but it was shallow. He pointed towards it as he began to move towards it. "Is that child one of the guard?" He asked incredulously as he could see now that the child had lacerations on its torso and a weapon limply held in their hand. He would certainly have a strong opinion if one of the town guards was a child...although he did know of a few exceptions, it should not be so common a practice that a guardsman does nothing for one lying wounded nearby.

While Sven was not a fan of someone blatantly waving off a man of the town guard, the man's discovery of an injured child took priority over his pride. Sven rushed to where the man had pointed and saw the injured child. He was lightly garbed in cheap clothing, torn to shreds by the conflict a few moments ago. The boy looked dirty and unkempt. Unusual for a city living child.

<b>"Tiburon would never employ children to fight! This poor boy must have been hurt by one of these damn pirates"</b>

Sven saw the weapon in the boy's hand. It didn't make any sense. Could the boy have arrived with the pirates? Maybe he was a captive trying to escape and had to defend himself. It had to be. What kind of monsters would take children captive? Those questions had to linger for a bit. The child looked still alive, although barely.

<b>"The boy is injured, but he looks to be still bleeding. This is beyond any of the first aid training I know. He would need a healer quickly"</b>

Jebidiah had a solemn look on his face. At least he was pleased that the child didn't belong to the army. "Not sure where he came from, but he smells like the ocean, underneath some filth." He knelt down and pulled out some suture thread and a needle as he turned his water into a stool to sit on. His golem walked over to the boy and began peeling back the bloodied clothes. Lowering his spectacles, he focused on the injuries. "Good thing I'm a doctor. Now, if you can find some clean water, that will help." Focusing on it, he began to inspect the wound. "The wound is deep, but missed the organs and vital blood vessels." Setting to his work, he used scour to clean off the skin near the injury to prevent infections. He began sewing it closed next. When he finished several minutes later he leaned over and listened to the chest. Nodding in satisfaction, he stood up and stretched. "That should do it. He'll live. I found this on the shirt, not sure if it means anything to you, but here you go." He handed over a patch of fabric that must have been ripped from the shirt when he was injured. On it was a flag with a bean in the middle of it.

Sven was amazed to see a doctor with water magics at his disposal. Coupled with his fast ability to treat the child, Sven was sure this was no ordinary doctor.

<b>"Whoever you are, you have my thanks, as well as the thanks of Tiburon. I'm Sven Stenbjörn, member of Tiburon's town guard."</b>

Sven looked at the patch the doctor handed him. There was no mistaking it. The patch was the same worn by the members of the Bean family. The Bean family was a group of pirates that had attacked Tiburon a few times before.

"<b>"I fear this child was no captive. This patch you handed me is of a pirate family. They've attacked the town before, but never with children. The Bean family sent this boy to fight."</b>

Sven couldn't believe it. Children used as fighters. Worse yet, the child had been nearly cut down by another member of the guard. Sven knew the child was sent to attack the town, but surely he could have been disarmed peacefully.

He gave a nod as the man gave his name. "Jebidiah Badash. Traveling doctor. I help those who can't help themselves. As for the child, is it really his fault? Did he make these choices? Or was it just how he was raised? How will you deal with this child enemy as he lays he defenseless?" He held no higher morals, just that he knew most people had reservations about fighting children. He was curious to see where this guard's morals lay.
