Hmm. The boisterous one did have uses. Though she seemed to be awfully focused on food stuffs. But, it did just prove useful. "What an interesting way to figure that out. Well, no time like the present. Lead on little baker girl. Let's see where this leads." He moved to follow the path the oat was heading in, hoping that Ria would take the lead and Lilly would follow.

Ria smiles as she leads the group following the oat path, happy that she helped out. "Ah.. I can see where you got baker... and.. little.. but I am not a baker. I am actually an innkeeper. I just happen to really like to make food. Plus.. I am probably much older than you." Ria pats the orb that sits within her bag that is on her waist, the orb hums a the touch. "Maybe after all this I'll show you my inn. If you guys want of course."

The trail of grain was definitely leading them towards one of verto's outer gates. Dotted around the perimeter of the city, they were less like guard posts and more like monitoring stations. The presence within was more about keeping tabs on movement than it was enforcing any regulations.

Ria turns to Kage and Lilly. "Should we ask the guards if they have seen anyone with a cart carrying oats?"

It had been some time since he chose to spend time with city guards. But, perhaps they could be useful. "I think that would be a good idea for you. You seem to know more about the specifics of what we are looking for." He gestured for her to lead on and gave her a friendly smile.

Ria walks up to the guard post and subtly using peer to see their auras as she approached trying to determine who is in the best mood to talk with.

There were two men at the post, one a surly looking man who's aura looked like salt tasted and another who's aura spoke of warmth and patience. The latter was an eight foot tall square of a man with grey skin and bulging muscles.

Ria walked up to the warm auraed man "Excuse me sir, maybe you can help me. I am searching for a cart that traveled through here earlier. It was carrying mill oats and probably headed to one of the mills." she showed him the oats she gathered to give him an idea of what they looked like.

The man looked surprised to be addressed by anyone, the man in the back looked relieved.
"Oh, yes madam. A couple of wagons came through here recently. Could you tell me any more about the one you're looking for? I'll also need to know why you want me to tell you where it went." he said, his voice like a slow roar.

Ria sighs in relief and comes up lie on the spot strung together of mostly things that are the truth, just in case he would be able to tell. Time to convince him. "Oh thank you, you are the first guard today to help me out. I was running an errand for my friend earlier, and the cask of oil was so heavy, so I placed it on a cart nearby it had mill oats on it, and I got distracted with some food I saw in the window of that new bakery on Ferguson street. Then it disappeared! There was a guy near the cart though, maybe he owned it? He had brown hair, pale skin, and light blue eyes that looked like pools of water." Okay.. so maybe the last part was a lie, but a glacial aspect fits with the hinges being broken by water magic.. so she decided to include him in the description as a .. maybe.
List of truths in order:
(true: He IS the first guard to help.)
(true: she did help out her local baker friend get some rosemary earlier)
(true: casks are heavy)
(half truth: she didn't place it down, but it was placed on a cart with mill oats)
(sadly true... she got distracted before meeting up with Skaylen after hearing his cask got stolen)
(true: it did disappear... cause it was stolen)
