[Outer Verto] Skaylen's Workshop
Ria nods at Skaylen's explanation, "Could you make something that would allow me to make compasses that point towards my inn. Having a traveling inn is... hard to find. Ria was excited, if he was able to do that it would be great for returning customers.
Reply
"We could give a chunk of iron a homebound rune with your blood... then break that down into a lot of smaller needles that you could put in old compasses. You'd have to consciously will the needles to pull towards you... but I think spreading them out would increase their range and drop the power... not that you need a lot of force to make a needle point. Although... the materials for that rune are a bit expensive." Skaylen rambled.
Reply
So his process was a blending one. He wondered how much control the had over it.

"I have to ask. How do you blend the spells? And can it be applied to other abilities one may have?"
Reply
"We sort of magically magnetise the oil, using materials or effects that draw it towards those effects. And Ria, I think I can manage that rune in addition to the reforming, but I'd need a bit of your coin back." Skaylen added.

Ria nods and pulls the money back out smiling, excitement clearly on her face, " Whatever is needed for the inn I will do!" She offers Skaylen some coin back.

Skaylen took 40 gold back from Ria, and began setting out some runic supplies. He handed the young woman a small blade and a glass vial.
Reply
Ria looks at the vial and the blade and takes a breath, she walks over to a sink and cuts her hand and drops some blood into the vial.... and some down sink. She grumbles to herself quietly about the pain, her face furrowed, once she has filled the vial she casts heal on herself and closes up the small wound, she caps the vial and walks back over to Skaylen, handing both the knife and the vial over. "I am glad that is over with." She is smiling again, still excited for the rune.
Reply
Skaylen mixed the blood with a few powders and what looked like a silvery liquid before adding a drop of the oil, which Ria suspected was not how the rune was normally formed. The tinkerer laid of a large sheet of metal and poured the mixture over the surface, scratching a series of symbols and lines in the wet material with a gem-tipped wand. The metal let out a flash of light before appearing completely dry.

"Now the fun part." Skaylen said, his hair and eyes beginning to glow a little as he took a portion of oil from the cask. It floated through the air as if moved only by the man's will, spreading out until it formed a mist that clung around the metal. Soon the sheet of runed metal had melted away into a serious of floating droplets... each of the droplets stretched out into the shape of a compass needle before falling onto the counter as solid iron with a clatter of clangs. Nineteen compass needles.

Ria watches him closely, admiring his work. She giggles with excitement as the compass needles appear. "Skaylen you brilliant man!!!! This is wonderful!!! Thank you!"

Kage had an idea. He wondered if combining his Shaded Eye (with its connection to his visionary talent) and his pocket dimension would yield the result he sought. Ideally he sought the ability to see into and manipulate nearby extra dimensional spaces. Like his void, enveloping runed objects, things akin to the inn Ria described, and possibly strong areas of the fry realm. Though being able to see into them would be a good start.

"I have an idea of what I would like to create. Rather than openly go into detail about the abilities involved, how much do you need to know beyond the abilities are uniquely intrinsic to me and vaguely Umbral in their aspected nature?" Just because this could be wonderful didn't mean he wanted everyone to know his capabilities if he could avoid it.
