Hayze nodded, not smiling this time. He didn't know why this man was being blatantly coy about his instructions. From who was he saving face? He realized he didn't care and prepared to leave, refastening a belt at his ankle. Without looking up he asked, "Anything else?" It was an ambiguous question, slightly portraying his annoyance.

Charlie waved him away with a hand. Apparently that was all he had for the guy as of now.

He stood, giving a shrug before walking off in the direction he had come. He had never even acknowledged the elf standing by. Was he there for the same job? It didn't matter and he didn't care.
He turned onto the main street. The sun was behind the buildings to his right, casting shadows over the street and over his path. He rarely stood in direct sunlight when he could help it. There were several practical reasons why he stuck to the shade, but the foremost one in his mind was that it just felt natural.
"I hope you didn't take this job only because he gave you the option of hurting the guy." A voice sounded in his mind. It was his own but coming from a separate part of him, namely his shadow. "The guy could be innocent for all you know."
"No one is innocent." He responded, mostly ignoring what his shadow was saying.
"I was."
Hayze audibly growled in his throat, immediately purging the thought from his mind.

Hours later, Hayze entered the town to the south. The directions he had been given were a little ambiguous, but it turned out there was only one road. At the end of the road there was indeed a shop. He had been walking again on the shady side of the road and now passed through the shadow of the target building. He knew that as his shadow melded with others, it could gain information about the object casting the shadow. What his shadow could determine, he wasn't sure until it told him.
He paused for a second before stepping up to the door and trying the knob to open it.

As Hayze pauses, his shadow relays that the door is unlocked, and there are a few people inside as it is around mid afternoon.

Baron had made his way to the town rather lazily, not feeling inclined to prematurely terminate his pipe smoking and not seeing any particular need to rush. When he made it to the town it was pressing on a little, it might have even been supper time for some.
The elf's pipe had eventually dried up, leaving him with the memorised directions to his marks house. He made his way there at an amble.

Baron finds himself at an establishment, different from Hayze's, that has been closed for the evening. It says it will be open in the morning.

Hayze turned the knob and pushed the door open, confident that it would at word from his shadow. Seeing a few people inside was also no surprise thanks to his other half. He was willing to fight them all if necessary to complete the job. But he was also an efficient young man and hoped to remain inconspicuous to the local authorities for a while longer.
He stood at the door, his appearance obviously threatening. His wish was that anyone who wanted to leave, did so now. He took a step to the side, leaving a clear path to the door. His second wish was that the proprietor would identify himself without any questioning.

As Hayze walked in with a menacing posture, he got some odd stares, but unfortunately no one seemed too concerned. They scooted their chairs away from him though. As he cast his gaze about, he could see that he was in a combination knick knack store and tea bar. The patrons his shadow had detected were sitting drinking tea, their conversations stalled for the new figure. The only worker he saw was working behind the counter. Making pots of tea and cashing out sales of baubles.

No one stood to leave, although a few nervously moved away from him. That was fine. He didn't think any of them would make a fuss if things got messy. This wasn't exactly the most hostile of venues for a robbery.
He strode up to the counter. His shadow stayed directly beneath him. It was a challenging feat to mimic the shadows caused by multiple light sources, such as in a building. As always, he didn't want his Aspect to be quite that obvious to onlookers.
As soon as he reached the counter, however, his shadow merged with that of the counter, moved around to the opposite side and merged with the shadow of the man standing behind it.
As soon as he had the man's attention, he said, "I'd like to see you're merchant license." He was not one to put on an act to manipulate people into doing things for him. He was no con-man. He felt it was much more effective to expect people to do what he asked and if they didn't, hurt them until they did.

The man behind the counter is putting up a good front of not being intimidated. He waves Hayze away as if he was just a bothersome teen. "I got customers to tend to. Wait your turn like everybody else." He goes back to hustling to make the pots for the customers.
