[Outer Verto] Skaylen's Workshop
#11
Kaia had been silently watching from above, having finally removed her attention from that bizarre pitcher plant.

But it was when the duo started looking around upstairs that things really started to get confusing. Why leave through the window? It didn't sound like anyone was around to scare them off.. wait, how did the intruders get in? Maybe it was... ! "Kage, I want to check the other side of that window, see what else is in the area."

"We will Kaia. That's a good thought. I hadn't thought about that. Let's see the rest of this scene first."

The fairy sighed, landing on Kage's head before looking around at.. well, at the stuff. Particularly for anything that looked like a bit of ripped clothing, or a bit of blood.

Hrm.. were there any landing spots that couldn't be seen by someone standing on the floor?

Silkie overhears Kage from just outside the broken second floor window as she looks around still for a route of escape or evidence. She replies back to everyone by moving air around "No.. Silkie found no way in yet.. only found a way out. Will search again! Looking for routes of escape now... Door makes a loud noise when falling, window makes a loud noise when breaking, did anyone hear? Why break windows?" Ria seeing Kage walk up the stairs to check the window thinks for a moment and then walks around the downstairs area thinking to herself that this is odd. Silkie had managed to find a way out, but not in. She walks around looks around the whole room including the floor and the walls for any signs of footprints or fingerprints or anything that seemed.. unusual or more out of place then normal. Maybe there was a hidden entrance.. or a cellar? Or maybe they picked the front door? but why not pick the upstairs door if they had the capability of that... possible shadow twin? or maybe Skaylen left the front door unlocked.... nono.. he would never.. suddenly remembering what Kage and Lilly said earlier she asks both Kage and Lilly "So how much experience with this sort of thing do you guys have? Both of you seem very familiar with it." Her house sphere is in a bag attached to her belt... she could set it up in a few minutes.. maybe there would be something in there that may help the group. Maybe she could whip up some magical detection muffins.

The door that they came in by was not locked, and looking around downstairs gave them the impression that people walked in and out of this area freely. There was even a small waste basket by the door. Evidently Skaylen used the lower level of the workshop to show off his experiments.

Looking through the window upstairs, it was clear that it was broken from the inside outwards, but there was no glass on the street below. Upstairs there were a few broken instruments, some of which looked expensive, but nothing looked like it was missing besides the cask of oil. The cask was clearly dragged off a lower work station, which had a distinct smear of prismatic fluid leading towards the broken window.

The hinges of the removed door were definitely effected by water magic.

"I've seen a break in or two in my time. ... wait... this mess is too messy..." Lilly frowned as she looked around at the overturned pillars and tossed about work.

"You don't knock over pillars to look for something. And you don't spend that amount of effort busting through a door if you don't know what's there. They don't match." she add.

Ria pauses at Lilly's words. "So... they knew what they were looking for, but not where... Either they saw it.. or Skaylen mentioned the cask to someone.. I should probably go ask Skaylen some questions.. now that we have some vague clues, maybe it will point us in a direction. Does anyone want me to ask him anything specific?' Ria being unknowledgable about break ins and magic detection decides it may be a wiser idea for her to ask Skaylen some questions. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a regular chocolate muffin that she had baked earlier. Surely Skaylen was nervous, she hoped that food would calm him down slightly. Silkie sees some oil heading towards the window and on the window's ledge. "Cask was leaky?" Silkies form is a bit more visible due to the distance between her and the sphere. She looks similar to a fairy yet is wearing a long flowy white dress and has very long white hair. Common for Sylphs. "Kage, should Silkie follow tracks?"

Lily waved her hands at the whole area apart from the door.

"This whole mess here. Its a feint. It was tossed to make it look like someone didn't know what they were after." she said, excitedly.

"But the cask would be obvious... was the real target something else?" Kaia fluttered off of Kage's head, tapping her cheek in deep thought. "Unless.. you wanted to give the impression you didn't know the target?"

"Let's say you know exactly what you're looking for, and exactly where it is. They've gone to trouble to hide that fact. We need to know who knew both of those things." said Lily.
