"No way. I was wide awake. No way I would just fall asleep. Did you knock me out? Is this a hallucination?" He seemed to be focused on finding the answer to what the hell was going on before he answered the first question. He also seemed to be creating situations and discarding them rather quickly.

Baron allowed his eyes to slip from their normal grey into the bottomless ocean he had used to bring Charlie into his daydream.

"I merely invited you in. I am a waking dreamer, and this is one of my gifts." he said, still smiling.

"One part at a time. Gotta make sure you can handle the job." He pulled out a small square of paper and tried to hand it Baron. Or at least, he was imagining he was. The whole ordeal was messing with his mind. "At this address is a safe. I need its contents, and the owner can't know they are missing." There was an address on the paper in one of the towns to the south.

Charlie handed Baron a scrap of paper, which Baron took in his hands. He unrolled the scroll to see the address, nodding as he committed it to memory.

"What can you tell me about the owner?" he asked, brushing his hands together to shake off the dust.

Charlie blinked at the change in continuity. He just shook his head and moved on. "Meticulous fellow. Keeps notes on everything, which are what will you be taking. Fairly paranoid, so probably has some security." That seemed to be all he had to immediately offer, at least without more focused prodding.

"Is he a clever man, do you think?" Baron asked.

Charlie thought for a moment. "I have no idea. He is shrewd and thoughtful though. Never really tested his cleverness." He thought that handled the question, even though it did nothing most likely.

"How deep is his paranoia? Are there any associates you think have his trust?" Baron asked, the nugget of a plan coming together.
